I’ve been using this grinder for about a month now, and it has exceeded my expectations. As someone who enjoys just a cup or two of coffee on weekend mornings, the hand crank works perfectly for my needs. Initially, I placed the grinder base on the counter while cranking the handle, but I’ve found it works much better to hold the cylinder of the grinder in one hand (not resting on the counter) while cranking. This method is much easier and efficient. It takes around 150 rotations to grind a cup of coffee, and the process is quick and hassle-free, resulting in delicious freshly ground coffee.

I purchased this grinder as a replacement for an old glass Hario grinder that had no top. Unlike the old one, this grinder doesn’t spill beans everywhere (which is a plus). However, I’ve noticed that I need to grind about twice as much as I did with the old one to get the same amount of beans. The grind it produces is fairly even, if not perfectly so (comparable to the Hario). It has a suitable capacity for my preferred double shot Aeropress cup but might not accommodate three shot/scoops.
